Why Up-cycling
For years, i've made a living assembling furniture my clients purchased from Ikea and other big box retailers. Often I found myself assembling the same item for multiple people (one cabinet from Ikea I assembled 25 times). Although very nice looking and stylish, the pieces were all temporary, nothing meant to last more than 10 years, or meant to be moved. Made often of particle board, they were heavy, and bulky. The benefits were cheap furniture that was delivered quickly at the expense of our environment.. and backs!
My vision
Lets take what we already have. the items that look ugly or no longer work for us.. and re-imagine it so that it works for us today. That old television cabinet from 75 years ago would make a great fish tank or bookshelf. That brass bed frame that our kids used 40 years ago would make great entry bench in your downsized condo.
